Illinois has many advantages that would allow us to have a more thriving economy including our mid-country location, transportation hub, number of Fortune 100 and 500 Companies, world-class educational institutions, culture and cultural diversity. As I tour District 59 businesses to learn more about their operation, I hear that our state's lack of a budget and political dysfunction, which produces economic uncertainty, are businesses' two biggest concerns. With my entrepreneurial experience starting two small businesses and growing a third business, I understand many of the challenges business owners face. I bring this experience to my role as Chairperson of the House Business Growth and Incentives Committee and Founder/Chair of the bi-partisan Small Business Owners Caucus to create a more vibrant Illinois economy. Recently, I passed a bill to allow intrastate equity Crowdfunding and am fighting to reduce LLC filing fees. The Illinois Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Manufacturing Association, and Illinois Retail Merchants support me. I have been awarded the Legislator of the Year by the Small Business Advocacy Council two years in a row.
